With twin daughters on the way, actress Rebecca Romijn opens up about fertility drugs, maternity sex appeal and the famously curvaceous lady who inspired her baby name choice.
Rebecca Romijn may be famed for her beauty—after all, this is a woman who has graced the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue, not to mention countless Victoria’s Secret catalogs—but right now her body image is not the healthiest. “I can’t move anymore,” she says. “I’m a beached whale!”
Of course, this beaching is on doctor’s orders: The model turned actress is seven months pregnant with twin girls, and is marooned at her Calabasas, Calif., home on prescribed bed rest. On this sunny Thursday morning, she is hanging out at her Wagon Wheel Ranch—the 18-acre place she shares with her husband, actor Jerry O’Connell—alongside her two poodles, Better and Taco. Beside her bed is a teetering pile of 23 maternity books, from The Happiest Baby on the Block, which is somewhere in the middle, to Mothering Multiples, sitting right on top. Needless to say, she’s comfortably dressed for the occasion in a pair of Express sweats and a camisole top with a built-in support bra. “I have not been without a bra this entire pregnancy. I refuse,” she says, laughing uproariously. “I’m not taking any chances. I’m determined to keep the puppies up!”

Hollywood’s leading ladies are picking up their favorite knitting needles and crochet hooks to spread some warmth to newborns in developing nations.
Save the Children Artist Ambassador Gwyneth Paltrow, and actresses Rebecca Romijn, Debra Messing, Lisa Edelstein, Vera Farmiga, Mischa Barton and Patricia Arquette joined Save the Children and the Warm Up America Foundation’s Knit One, Save One campaign to help improve newborn survival globally.
The Knit One, Save One campaign is bringing U.S. knitters and crocheters of all ages together to draw attention in Washington, D.C. to the nearly 4 million newborn deaths that occur each year in developing countries. Participants are asked to create one baby cap to keep a newborn warm during the first critical hours and days after birth, and to write a personal note to the President-elect asking him to lead the way in reducing newborn deaths globally.

TV star Jerry O’Connell and his beautiful wife — model-turned-actress Rebecca Romijn — are busily preparing for the arrival of twins — who are expected this winter — and getting their home ready for the little bundles of joy.
“We cleared out a bedroom, actually not a bedroom, it was my aunt and uncle’s old stuff,” Jerry tells People. “I had my computer and video games in there that got cleared out for the kids. So, I’m wondering what I’m going to do with my video game stuff. But, maybe that goes out the window when you have kids.”
After dating for two-and-a-half years, the twosome married in July 2007 in an intimate backyard wedding. The twins will be the couple’s first children, and Jerry can’t stop gushing about their current plans to welcome the twins into their new home.
“Baby-proofing the house, but it’s mostly getting the nursery ready,” the 34-year-old tall drink of water says. “It’s another room. We’ve got a couple of cribs and stuff.”
The ex “Crossing Jordan” star also tells People that he isn’t the only one going to be helping out his statuesque wife in the first few months after the twins are born. “Her mom is going to come stay with us. I’m sleeping on the couch … clutching the video game system. No, I’m joking. A lot of people are getting us ready for the first couple months.”
As for how Rebecca is, Jerry simply says, “She’s great. This is a really happy time for us, it really is.”
A big thanks goes out to my lovely friend Mariana for sending in some scans of Rebecca in People magazine in 1997 and 1999. Happy reading!
